Credit Card PPI. Halifax Told Me To Get Lost?

I used to have a Credit Card with the Halifax. Approximately 4 years ago, the Halifax sold-off / passed my account to MBNA (without my consent). The account is still active with MBNA to this day (but I have never used it- they froze it when I refused to agree to MBNA's interest Rate-Jacking. I'm just gradually paying-off the balance).

Whilst with the Halifax, I had PPI insurance, but I cancelled it approximately 8 months before they transferred it to MBNA (I did not know at the time of cancelling the PPI that the account was going to be passed to MBNA). MBNA have advised me that I should contact the Halifax about this.

I have since written to the Halifax about my time with them. I even supplied them with a copy of an old statement which clearly shows the monthly charge for PPI (but my statements and records are incomplete- I only have a couple of them). Having requested the dates that PPI was applied and cancelled to the account, Halifax card services in Dunfermline wrote back to say that since I no longer have any regulated agreement with them (since the account is now with MBNA), they will not provide me with this information: that the consumer credit (section 78) act 1974 does not apply. They have refunded me the £2 that I had sent to them.

D'you think that I ought to pursue this? If so, any suggestions on what to do next? Grateful for any advice either way.

Are you wanting the information to make a PPI misselling complaint or for another reason?

(If you feel the PPI was missold, I would skip straight to the complaint stage. Make two copies, send one to Halifax and one to MBNA then you've covered both)

If MBNA then sends you a letter telling you to raise you complaint with Halifax, send Halifax a copy of that as well. (and vice versa)
