We too bought a voucher from Groupon for one of these matresses, after reading various reports regarding how new the company is and the fact that addresses given when registering the domain etc.. seem to be false we cancelled the coupon with groupon.

There appears to be quite a few websites out there already selling memory foam matresses for this sort of price (quality unknown of course) so how will we know what quality we will end up getting - we are all assuming it will be to the quality of the £1000+ mattresses - but I seriously doubt it. The company appears to be so new that there are no reviews yet (apart from the ones "posted" on their own website).

Latest news today is the website appears to be down (at least I could not connect to it). Just interested to know what happens once the cooling off period ends with Groupon and people have still been unable to redeem the voucher with this company?

One more thing....they advertise themselves as Clouds Memory Foam Ltd on their website, however this company does not appear to exist when I searched on the Companies House website. In their T&Cs they claim the website is "operated" byWild Media Ltd (this company does exist).
  • Just searched for Clouds to try to buy a summer duvet and this forum popped up, so thought I would add my two pence worth...

I bought a Deluxe mattress from Clouds a few weeks ago and the whole process went pretty smoothly. I ordered online and didn't have any problems with the site. I guess it must just be because of the Groupon deal. I am actually pretty gutted that I missed out that!

I did call them at one point to ask about delivery times and their customer service team were very pleasant, as far as I can remember. Would be interested to know if anyone else has spoken to them...?

Just rang them and managed to get through to someone on the phone so maybe they are starting to get on top of things.

Hopefully the website will be back to normal tomorrow and I will be able to put my order through... otherwise think I may cancel it with Groupon.

See I think you're a company plant. Clouds' site didn't even exist until 20th June and they had no way of taking payment until some time last week (tiny url.com/6znek6z), so there's no way you could have ordered weeks ago.

There were reviews on the site saying the same thing, but as far as I can tell they're all written by the staff too, and the older ones with more info have been bumped off since I mailed Groupon to tell them the whole think stinks to high heaven.

I have no doubt Clouds will provide mattresses, but I am 100% sure that the £1000+ prices are absolute nonsense. The fact that there seems to be a lot of astroturfing going on and general dishonesty in the way this has been marketed makes me very wary of anything to do with this deal. Even the copyright says 2009-2011 to give the impression the site has been around for ages, it's all so dodgy.
  • Whoah, guys. My mattress is right here. I'm using this site like everyone else - to decide who to spend my money with. Sorry if that upsets your conspiracy theory.

What I was actually hoping for was some feedback from someone else who has ACTUALLY PLACED AN ORDER with them. Rather than a spectator. I want to know if things have really changed that much since my first order...

When did you place the order? When was it delivered?

Nobody has placed an order with them because they were unable to take payment before last week and their site crashed all day yesterday, so forgive me if I think you're a stooge.

The website seems to be working fine now. I'm torn whether to place my order or not though!

I spoke to someone at Groupon today and they advised that if I place the order and the mattress doesn't arrive they will either refund in full (including p&p) or arrange for the order to be fulfilled by another partner. I paid for the Groupon voucher with a credit card and I'm planning on paying for the p&p with Paypal so could I be any more covered???

Anyone else taken the risk and decided to order their mattresses?

I suspect you will get a mattress, I also suspect it will be £250 worth (or less) and not £1000+ worth.

I'm just guessing here but it looks to me like someone had a great idea of importing a load of cheap mattresses, paying a few quid to have a nice looking website knocked together, over-pricing the mattresses on the website, then running a Groupon massive discount promotion.

As long as the punter gets a mattress at the end of the day both Groupon and Clouds are covered. How will you prove it's poor quality? It maybe several weeks or months before it starts showing signs - by which time Clouds may have disappeared as quickly as the appeared.

They have already pretended to be a Limited company, presumably to add credibility (I notice this has now been removed from the site). The site didn't exist a few weeks ago, the domain appears to be registered in a false name and address.

Also seems pretty clear they are now posting here pretending to be a satisfied customer (along with their suspicious reviews on their own site.

Something seems very fishy all round to me.

Another thought - there is a law in place regarding sale prices. I found the following statement from a website quoting advertising law:
"Your sale price must be a reduction from the actual, bona fide former asking price that was offered on a regular basis to the public for a reasonably substantial time period.
If you didn’t sell a substantial amount of product at the higher price, you can’t say “formerly sold at "$xx", because it is not really true. Inflating a price only to reduce it to its regular selling price and claim that it is on sale is not legal."
Surely if this website has only be up and running and able to take payments for a couple of weeks this does not constitute a "reasonably substantial time period" for selling at the apparently orginal prices and therefore should not be advertising this? Another reason to doubt the company integrity?
