What have you done with your Baby things?

What have you done with your babies Moses Basket, clothes, toys...?
I was thinking of saving them all (Money Saving) for a possible next baby. But DH thinks we should put them on e-bay or car boot sale and get the money now!
I don't think they will sell for that much, is it more money saving to hold onto them?
What have you done? Any advice?

I kept a hold of everything! We had a house fire two years ago and lost a lot of it then but thankfully some of it was salvagable. Luckily too since there is another one on the way! I have got some replacement bits we lost on freecycle so there isnt much left we need to buy.
I think youre right, baby stuff is everywhere so i very much doubt you will get anything near what you paid for it. Id keep it all (as long as you have the room) for any more children. No point selling stuff at a fraction of the cost to have to buy it all again brand new (and more pricey) all over again!Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -
Agree as above - keep hold of it - we did and I used all the same stuff 3 years later for our 2nd DD, who was born at the same time of years as the first. You will only get a fraction of the cost you paid, and would have to shell out again in future.0

Definitely hang on to it if it's likely you're going to have another child.
Don't want to stir things up but is it possibly his way of saying he doesn't want anymore kids? You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs :rotfl:0 -
You could compromise by keeping the items which would be expensive to re-buy if you were to have another baby and sell the rest, although how you decide what to get rid of is beyond me.
After my first child was born I kept everything for our next child. unfortunately, I found it very difficult to get pregnant again, so we decided to be thankful for the child we were blessed with and gave everything away. 3 months later I was pregnant and had to start all over again.0 -
I held onto most things for four years in the hope of having another baby but it wasn't to be:(
Then sold it/gave it away.
After that fell pregnant and had to start all over again. However the price of items had seriously come down and on second baby, realised that I didn't need that much anyway.
I'm just in the process of selling the remaiining items on eBay....even though I'm hoping that baby no.3 will make an appearance in the next year or two.Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
I only ever wanted one child so when my baby had reached 3 I heaved everything out of the loft and gave most of it away. My mum took me aside and said I should be careful as there was an old wives tale saying as soon as you got rid of your baby things you would be expecting again. I laughed her off as I knew what I was doing, was too long in the tooth to be making mistakes etc then lo and behold 2 weeks later found out I was pregnant!!0

I never had much money when I had DS1 (was 20 and just moved in with OH) we had to watch the pennies......so a lot of the stuff was loaned from other people or quite cheapish.
Most of it I didn't bother keeping, returned or passed on.
5 years of trying later, DS2 came along, and in a much better situation we bought everything brand new and good quality. Thankfully I still have it all as DS2 is only 18mths and No.3 is on it's way.....Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. My brother asked me to keep it to pass onto them when they started a family.
However both me and SIL found out we were pregnant with in a few weeks of each other, so I had to say "tough buy your own stuff" :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
I kept mine, washed and bagged up in the attic with the sizes on eg 0-3 months. I also split them into 'boys' and 'neutral'. When we had a girl next, I gave the boys stuff away to a relative. When DD outgrew her stuff I also split it into girls and neutral, so I could pass on my neutral stuff to anyone, and just hung on to girls stuff till someone else had one.0
