It's been over a month now so the pattern has obviously changed.

If there is one this weekend we are likely to get a note about it either today or tomorrow, so keep watching MSE as I usually see it mentioned here before I ever get an email from ebay.

Wishful thinking, but totally agree :D

They have just put up the FVF for private sellers, maybe this marks the end of free/cheap listing days as well.

The main reason for checking this forum is for news on the next free listing day (as access to ebay is blocked at work).

You can be sure someone will always complain!!

While I agree for business sellers / semi-professional sellers and people who sell items were lots of the same or similar items are available free listing days are not good.

However for the past few years I have been selling my LP / CD / book and magazine collections. Often only 10% or less of items sell , so I have to list a few times.

My items only sell for a few pounds and seldom have more than one bid. F-L-Ds mean I can list for a price I am happy to sell at and I'm not faced with paying fees on unsold items.

I only joined ebay due to F-L-Ds I was trying to sell my classical lp collection & no dealer was interested. I had looked at ebay but few seemed to sell so the cost of listing would be excessive. One day I saw there was a F-L-D I listed 12 lps sold 2 so was v happy.

I used to be quite sniffy about buying second hand items but now often consider this option before buying new.

In short Free Listing Days do attract new people to ebay both buyers and sellers.

I agree that there is nothing at all wrong with buying second hand, in fact it is a very green thing to do.

The craze for retro and vintage items is a good one and if it means less waste then that is even better.

Sorry I'm new here, but can't you just list for free by beginning the auction at £0.99 or less? Or is that not recommended?

That's perfectly acceptable. Private selelrs get up to 100 free 99p listings a month.

However some things are just worth more and as a 99p item might well sell for that some sellers won't risk it.
