What happens now?

We managed to pay a large sum off our mortgage in November, leaving just over a £1000 on the mortgage. At the begininng of December we managed to scrape enough together to pay this to the mortgage company.

However we haven't heard anything and I was wondering what the proceedure was now.

You probably won't hear anything until you get your mortgage statement. Ours used to come in mid January for the previous year. When I paid off our martgage, I was selling up, so I requested my deeds. I was charged something for this, told that they would only send them to the BS branch and I would have to bring in lots of ID to be able to collect them. The muppet company messed up by sitting on the request for a month, then sent the deeds by ordinary mail to my home address :eek:

I think that most Building Societies assume that you will want them to hang onto your deeds unless you tell them otherwise. Then it takes them time to retrieve them and get them to you.

I would probably wait another couple of weeks in your position, then contact them to confirm that it is all paid off. Anyway, congratulations on becoming MF! :T

I hope not .....ours came in March this year!
