Gretna Green

HI

My sister is getting married in Gretna Green in August. The plan is to drive up on the saturday morning, (wedding is a 7pm) stay over one night and drive back the following morning.

She has booked all her guests into her hotel or a little hotel called days inn which is in the village, depending how much they were willing to pay!

The problem is the rooms only sleep 4 and so we are having to pay for two rooms which means £100 for one night stay, plus me and my husband will have to sleep in seperate rooms, with two kids each....obviously this whole arrangement is not really ideal for us.

I am wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of anything like campsites/lodges/cottages/hotels that sleep more than 4 to a room, that are VERY local to Gretna...... I know it is her wedding but tbh I can't really be bothered with all the hassle/cost, but then I sound a bit miserable don't I...I still need to get someone to look after the cat and 2 dogs!!!!!!!! I hate weddings lol x

Please help xxx

I got married at Gretna Green & stayed at http://www.browhouses.co.uk/ . On the main road from Gretna towards Annan & down a long road to the Solway Firth. Peacefull & beautiful. Went back on our 1st anniversary. & I'd love to go back again.

And do they sleep more than 4 to a room which is what the OP was asking?

ETA : I've just looked at the link and they only sleep 4 to a cottage...

Sorry I can't help OP, but hope you find something suitable :)

There are 2 cottages - sleeping 4 each . Seems the OP is looking for a room for 6 - highly unlikely to find one.

She could book 2 hotel rooms too, so I don't get your point, sorry.

She's trying to cut costs, hence the request to see if anyone knows of somewhere which sleeps more than 4 people.

I'm not criticising anyone, but if that's what you think, fine.

Thank you for the link, unfortunately the cottage does only sleep 4, however if it slept 6 it would have been a good contender.

I am trying to find somewhere that is either cheaper, for the one night...or about the same price (maybe slightly more) but is more of a holiday and we could maybe stay a couple of nights...I just think £100 is expensive for one night!

    Thank you for the replies.....

sounds like my sister - she didnt bother attending any of her sister's weddings in the end lol. But that is another story.

I looked at a hotel in ecclefechan I used to know quite well, but unfortunately they only seem to have a room for four as well, sorry, did try.

Can you not get a Premier Inn or Travelodge either side of the border?
