My sister asked me to sell a cardigan of hers which I did...she told me she's never worn it and it looked like she hadn't.

    Anyway recieved the following email...

Just recieved jumper- very disappointed- unwearable! nO WAY IS THIS NEW WITHOUT TAGS. Appears to have been washed and now shrunk several sizes below a monsoon size 10. Wanting total refund please. Await your reply before leaving feedback or taking issue further.
    Regards

    I replied the following:

Please do not threaten me with regards to feedback as Ebay do not take too kindly to this.

I'm sorry you were not happy with the cardigan.

Please send it back and I will issue you a FULL REFUND plus RETURNED POSTAGE!

    Thank you...

    Then this back.....

i have not threatened you in any way i have merely stated i have given you an opportunity to rectify a situation of your making, prior to leaving any feedback. Cardigan will be returned Saturday.

I have contacted ebay regarding this...but still waiting to hear back..

Is it me or does it sound slightly threatening? Really does put me off selling on ebay as some people come across SOOOO rude!!
Op i'm afraid you just made matters worse. The original email was a little blunt but your reply with accusations basically may have made matters worse and ensure bad FB.

Good Customer service is being polite even if you dont agree with them. You should have just replied with your offer of a refund and apologise (even through gritted teeth). if your going to report every abrupt email to ebay your going to waste a lot of time doing that and youir FB and starts will take a big dive.

There are many reasons your buyer could have been abrupt. The last seller they dealt with could have been rude to them (there are a lot of seller out there like that). Or maybe they just had a bad day. being polite in return will often win them back around to you and show them not all ebay sellers are bad.

I once had a customer who had a problem. they sent me a rude email. i replied politely and sorted the problem quickly. I had a lovely email later thanking me and apologising saying they had just had a bad day and I was given the most glowing positive FB.

Seems to be just me, but I don't think the message is particularly rude. The buyer was expecting a new item, and got a used one which is no use. Most people would assume it had been deliberately misdescribed. It never occurs to me that a seller is listing for someone else and doesn't know the item's history. Why would it?

From the buyers message it looks as though you listed a worn, so used item as new without tags. Straight away you misdescribed it.
I do list items for friends & family sometimes but I always have the item & check it so that I can see & assess the condition for myself & haven't yet had any problems doing so.
