Proof of Debt and Defaults

Hello
I'm new here, I have been reading the forum for a while but always been too shy to really post. So here goes!
I have some defaults, two of which I dispute the debt, despite asking debt collector company for proof of debt (by phone when they called) and being promised they will send me one, they never did and they registered defaults against me and are still chasing me.
Is there a letter I can send them to stop them chasing me and have the default removed? I have no problem paying the debt if it is mine but these are not.
Thank you for reading and any suggestions you may have.
Bea

Hi Trice, if you've been reading, you'll know what yu should do. Start with the Prove It letter in the forum sticky. Print your name, never sign. Don't engage with the DCA and demand they only speak to you by letter. Standard proceedure, by the numbers. Don't worry, the burden of proof is on them not you.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

With respect the defaults, see page 19 onwards of this document on how to dispute incorrect info that has been put on your credit files.
