Hello and welcome
Personally its best to have a go yourself and not use a claims company, so I would request they send you everything back for as soon as possible and at least give it a go yourself.
Its a matter of completing a reclaim questionnaire and keeping copies back for yourself as well, allow 8 weeks and send to their head of complaints office.
However with them not being regulated the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) will not be able to take this case on, but they may actually suggest you pursue the underwriter/insurer instead as they have done with many in the same position as you here.
There are ways around it and the underwriter would have been regulated, so maybe before you start, give the FOS a call first and explain.
You can write to FP and ask them to send you a copy of the loan policy insurance details (these are not always enclosed with the loan paperwork) and you pursue them (the underwriters/insurers shown on the loan document), if this fails then you can complain to the FOS.
Do make that call first to the FOS though before you go any further, good luck.

Hi there, as Di said, and get it in writing from consumernet that they are not dealing with your claim and that it is now closed, i would not trust a phone call as they may get a % when you chase the insurer and you win.
It seems odd to me that they are not going the insurer route?,dont know why this is but i would be suspicious.0 -
ok great thanks for all your great advise consumernet said they had sent out written confirmation that case was closed weeks ago but haven't recieved anything will chase it up just wish i had come across this site first and then i wouldn't have gone threw them.so if consumernet haven't closed the case they could actually get money back if i did win a claim.0

Hi there, it could have been Barclays of dublin.
Barclays insurance
Two Park Place, Hatch Street
Dublin 2, Ireland
FP should tell you who the actual insurer is and the address, give them a ring back and ask for the address of your insurer ,dont let them off the phone until they do.
If you get no joy, then ring FOS and tell them that FP wont help with the insurer details.

It could have been brokered by Freedom, but it does not matter, you chase the insurer because of the year you took this out.
It seems to me that consumernet have the insurer details?,if this is the case i cannot understand why they have not gone down this route? maybe it is too much like hard work?.
Wait for the case closed letter from consumernet before you put a letter into the insurer, make sure that this will not cost you any money for consumernet services.
Also if the insurer rejects your claim, then you can take this to FOS.0
