Hey :)

Hope everyone is ok.

I just have a query and I do not know if this has been asked before but see when you are going to claim housing benefit and council tax in Scotland (I am a single mum on low income and receive full 70% for nursery charges) from your parent does this affect how much housing benefit you can claim?

I only ask because my mum is a shrewd business woman and will not give me any special treatment so I rely on housing benefit.

Thanks :) xx
Debt (1/9/14) £6,702.11 Debt free (30/11/2016) car - £2,107.20/£10,537 (48 month left) mortgage - £70,985.38 o/s currently
2021 maternity debt - O/D - £250, PP credit £20/£130, Credit Card £31.68/£518.27

Are you asking if you can rent from your parent and then claim HB?

If the flat is normally let out and has been previously and you have a proper signed tenancy agreement?. Also if you are paying before LHA comes through then it shouldn't be a problem as it hasn't been set up soley as a 'contrived tenancy'.

You may want to get it confirmed in writing from your local council first however just in case there are any problems further down the line (not that I'm saying there will be but just to be on the safe side).
