Indie fashionistas

Couple of great sales I've seen recently:

Baronjon.com - leather jackets at a third of the price (£50ish for a £150ish leather jacket), they sell other garments too.

Office.co.uk - Converse trainers under £20 (sale, so selected sizes only).

Anyone know any other places for cheap genuine Converse? Or any other indie/rock clothing websites/shops to recommend?

  • Taking me back a few years! I used to get 2nd hand 60's & 70's stuff inc leather jackets from a huge shop in Brixton, this is like 15/16 years ago mind you, I had the most beautiful Afghan Coat from Camden market, no idea what I did with that, probably binned it when I changed my look.

I'm sure Oxfam website has vintage stuff, problem these days is vintage is pricier thatn it was when I was into it all.

  • I'm also looking for T-shirts, especially band T-shirts. Any recommendations?

'Indie' is short for 'independant' meaning no brand names so Converse probably wouldn't be the sort of same area (but does fit a more 'preppy' style if thats any help?)

Check out street markets in your area, online stores like notonthehighstreet and if you are near London, try keeping your eye on the new graduate scene who will likely be attempting to start up new businesses before the big store/brands snap them up forever!

  • Schuh sometimes have Converse in their sale, if you can make it for a day out, Camden Market would be your best bet for 'indie' style clothes and band T Shirts. Theres also some good small shops in the back streets of SoHo.

Great for hand screanprinted T's, which I've seen for a tenner, hats, purses, etc. Many bargins to be found amongst the more pricey.

blue banana and play.com seem to be pretty good for band shirts, albeit not many specifically for women - so I get the men's ones and change them a bit.
