Police contact?

Hey guys,

I am swearing off ebay after this second horrendous experience in as many months and I don't want to keep bothering all you lovlies.

Can I contact the police regarding a fraudulent ebay transaction whilst I am trying to claim back via a dispute?

Bought a phone (yes very stupid but I asked if they had the receipt etc. seemed ok) Got sent a box with two cracked iphone covers and a satnav holder.

The seller has re-listed the item (and sold it again). operating under a false woman's name. Payment confirmation from a man's email.

Facebooked the guy (pretty unusual name so am positive it's him also the same email address) and the woman's name is one of his facebook friends.

This is obviously a scam and I would have thought it should be police reported (especially as google yielded a possible fraud case against him).

Can I contact the police whilst disputing in ebay? Or will it interfere with the ebay case?
