• Sounds good ATB, but no amount of bargains could make up for how cold it is wandering around the shops up at the Fort.
I was over from Belfast two weeks ago, and also took missus up to have a look. Spent five mins shivering form one window to another, called it a day, and went to Braehead instead.
I'm sure it'll be a great place to shop during the summer, but for the other 51 weeks I'd rather stay warm thanks very much. ;)
I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

• Looks like you bagged a bargain.

I wanted to go to the opening but I was working instead. Managed to get there after work but all the freebies had gone by then.Still, I used my £5 off voucher so I got a bit of a saving there!
• Hi Criminal_Smile,

I understand your comments about Glasgow Fort, but... It is Scotland and the cold weather is to be expected. Glasgow Fort was designed to be an out of town high street, it is not to be compared to Braehead, Buchanan Galleries and the likes - the design is a new concept based on shopping malls in America. We don't complain about the City Centre when we shop - we expect the cold there - look on Glasgow Fort in the same light, wrap up well and enjoy the now 69 Stores that are open, AND... Week Commencing 19th Dec Glasgow Fort is open until MIDNIGHT! Yup Midnight... what other shopping park has these fabulous Christmas opening hours?

Ok, I am plugging the shopping park, but I do work in Centre Management and this Shopping Park is the best thing that has happened to the East End, in a few years people will be flocking to this once downtrodden area of the city.

Give Glasgow Fort the break it deserves - and if you get there and you're realy cold, there are plenty of stores who sell scarfs, gloves and hats... Oh and you can always warm yourself up with a hot drink or food from any of the delicious food places there!

Have a happy Christmas!!
• Welcome to MSE anneeapple and in particular the Scotland Board icon7.gif

Thank you for the hints for late shopping for Christmas, it would be helpful if any other MSE user has inside knowledge of the Christmas opening hours for stores.

I take it the the Glasgow Fort is similar to the Edinburgh one and although I don't use it much I do pop in when at that side of town.

• Hi edinburghlass

Yeah Glasgow Fort is very similar to Fort Kinnaird, they both have the same landlords...

The shopping hours at Glasgow Fort are fab and no other shopping centre in Glasgow and around off the same trading hours!

Happy Shopping and Have a good Christmas!
