Cashback sites vs direct

So tonight I received a home insurance via GoCompare for around 160 - at MoreThan. I of course wanted cashback, so went via quidco - entered the same details as a GoCompare - and the price came up at 220!!!!
I guessed this was going to happen - but MSE puts in it's guide to go via the comparison websites to get cashback - but how can you combine the both - so you get great rates (a la comparison websites) and also the cashback?
Thanks.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Some insurers also do a lower quality product on aggregators to be able to cut prices further. Yet because it's the same underwriter doesn't necessarily mean it's the same product (though some also just discount via aggregators)0

I think the cashback sites have had their day when it comes to insurance.
The insurers can now work the quotes dependant on how you arrive at the website.
I've been looking at my daughters insurance today, depending on the cashback (either £23, £40, or £80), the price varied by the same amount as the cashback.
Having said that, I've got the quote down by £300 on the renewal price, and that's £2000 cheaper than the ones at the bottom of the comparisons.0
