Basically what i want to know is do i have to have a direct debit... I hate them and i dont trust sky..

You dont have to have a DD but make sure you pay your bill on time or sky will block you pretty much instantly if your a day late.0

don't they charge you more for not paying by DD?0

Its 4 quid for not having a deadly debit in place... I would of gone with virgin.. but im in the middle of no where and sky is the only option..
