I'm Sooooo Tired

I have just about run out of steam.
For those of you that don't know me, after having my DD two years ago I managed to accumulate a bit of debt thinking I could easy pay it back when I went back to work after mat leave. Unfortunately with escalating childcare costs and having to reduce my hours I couldn't, in fact I made things worse by living off my Credit Cards, consolidating and then running up more debt:eek:
Anyhoo, after the penny finally dropping that I was on a sinking ship and being the proud owner of around £20k worth of debt I sought help. I went to the CAB in March to discuss a debt arrangement scheme. I was told it takes a while ie requesting balances from creditors, working out incomes outgoings and Blah. So I thought maybe 6weeks, I was really struggling to make the minimum payments and so I started making some token payments etc then had to stop paying some altogether as I signed a sheet to say I wouldn't get into more debt.
I couldn't stick to that and pay all creditors as it left me with no money for food nappies etc (stuff I used my CCs for).
So April May came and went...received a barage of phone calls, letters got defaults etc, thought it would be sorted unfortunately many creditors still hadnt sent balances to CAB, I ended up requesting them again even though everything was sent recorded delivery so I know they got it.
June comes and I am assured by my money advisor that I am next on the list (not blaming them they are soooooo busy) and that the SOA will be sent to relevant creditors with monthly offer of payment...allowing them 21 days to respond.
UNFORTUNATELY this never got processed in time and the scottish government closed the scheme whilst they updated the policy and arent reopening it until 1/7/11 and then my advisor is on holiday until 11/7/11 so at the earliest it will be processed on that day.
I am so tired of it all now and can't believe it has been so stressful and will have taken over 4months by the time things get arranged. I am sick of feeling so down and frightened, I have now defaulted so many times and have not paid enough over the past few months that if they are all to get their money I am going to have to find around £3k, and I just don't know what to do as I have nothing.
sorry to moan, just feeling a bit crappy!

Hello,
Couldn't just read and run.
I'm not suprised you're feeling crappy - I would be too.
Just wanted to say I was thinking of you.
I'm quite new on here and don't know what to suggest sorry. Am sure someone will have some ideas for you.

To be honest I know it will all get sorted, but I am soooo worried about the setting off rule. I transfered my wages to Halifax thinking it was safe only to realise one loan and one credit card was part of the Bank of Scotland which is the same as Halifax essentially and so I guess is subject to this happening.....I could cry, once again not sleeping, eating, stressed and not really coping.0

sorry you are feeling so down. i know you have come along way and the cab are really helpful, but 4 months does seem like a long time to send your soa to everyone. would you perhaps consider switching to another free dmp provider like cccs? i set up my dmp with them in 2008 and everything was in place within a couple of months.
whatever you decide to do i really hope you have some better news soon.LBM - JULY 2008 - Wage cut followed by redundancy made me realise how much i was living beyond my means.Debt in July 2008 = £30,049.59 / Debt today = £20,173.82 / Total paid off = £9,875.77 (32.86%)0 -
Hi Sarah - keep your chin up.
Sod worrying about who gets paid and who doesn't. Open account with a bank you don't owe money to and have benefits paid into that. Or if you can live without "switch" get a post-office account.
You need to look after yourself & your baby. Your 1st priority is YOU & YOUR BABY
Change your telephone number and go x directory, that should stop the phone calls. Stick the letters in a folder for the CAB to deal with.

Thanks, for the support. I thought my Halifax account was safe until I realised that other debts were with BoS, I have only just changed all my Direct Debits etc so I would need to find away of setting up a safe cash account and then going through the rigmarole of changing everything again. I am mostly concerned about changing my wages all over again because it got really messed up the last time and that lead to me having no money at all for a week and a half, and in turn confessing all and going cap in hand to my mum (couldn't do that again).
With regards changing to CCCS it wouldn't make any difference, the Scottish Government have closed the scheme until 1/7/11 and by the time CCCS sent for my balances and sorted an SOA out it would probably take longer, I do really trust my Money advisor as well so I guess I am just going to have to ride this one out, just wish it was all over now.0 -

Firstly, don't be harsh on yourself, you're doing a lot more than a lot of other people would do in your situation. You should be proud your tackling this so Don't get down
Offsetting in the banking world is very common - for this reason I would strongly advise you withdraw your cash asap and then setup a simple account with the Post Office. However there may not be such a rush. While Halifax is under the BoS umberella, it takes longer for the different companies to share data, they don't just have everything on 1 screen. So for example if you owed MINT credit card, it would take a while and an employee would need to request access to different company systems etc.
And remember, don't worry about stuff like this after 9pm or it will play on your mind at night. Make yourself a cuppa and start again tomorrow.
Good luck! :money:0
