mobile updating every 15 mins

Hi,
I have a htc wildfire and when i look at my latest mobile usage in my online billing it shows that my mobile has been connecting to the internet every 15 minutes. I know with this type of phone that it will update the apps at various times throughout the day.But i am just wondering what will be updating every 15 mins.

Did you set up email account - most likely that.
Or you have got GPS turned on?

You can turn both off.

Hi,
I have got two email accounts set up but i have them set to check for mail every 4 hrs and i do have a gmail account so that i could use the android market but i can't seem to find a way of checking the update settings for that one.
How do i go about checking the GPS settings?

It doesn't necessarily have to be 1 thing updating every 15 minutes could be 4 different things connecting every hour but within 15 minutes of each other

A few things

- Do you have any RSS feeds, weather apps or widgets that need to connect to the net and are set to auto-update? If so, check the interval for each of them.

- The Gmail app is push email, you can't tell it how often to check - as soon as an email arrives it gets pushed to your phone. If you don't use that email address much, remove the autosync for it - you can always do a manual sync occasionally from within the app. If you don't use the gmail calendar and contacts either, untick the autosync for these too.

- GPS only uses data when it needs to update the location of satellites so that you can get a much quicker location fix (Assisted GPS) this normally will not be every day and definitely not every 15 minutes

Thanks for the help.
I have had a look at the apps i have and i have changed the settings for them but nothing seemed to be set to check regular like every 15 minutes.
some of the apps don't seem to allow me to vhange the settings.
I have looked in accounts & settings and the background data is ticked. I have also got a tick in auto sync data could this be what is doing the 15 minute updates? The accounts that it manages are my google mail,news,stocks & weather.

Unless you have mobile data turned of the phone will connect around the clock .
Mobile Data APN settings off via Quick Settings is what i use .
