Should i pay postage costs for faulty goods

I bought DD a Swarovski ring for xmas 2010 from a local, independent store.
Last month one of the stones fell out, so i returned it to the store.
They'll be sending it back to Swarovski and have said there 'may' be a charge to repair it. I thought that as it was less than 6 months old, they should cover the costs or that they had to prove that the item was damaged by us? (it wasn't)
Now the store is saying that they'll need to be paid £5 for postage costs (recorded) .
Should i have to pay either of these costs?

The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter

No.
Your contract was with the store. You have returned it to them and whatever transport costs are incurred now are their or the manufacturers responsibility.
You are also correct in the repair charge. You can be asked to pay this but only if it can be proven that the fault was due to something that you did.0
