hassle with new sky installation

hi, i have just moved into a flat and arranged for sky to be installed however after 4 weeks of hassle i am a bit nervous at the service.

i work 9-5 mon - fri but my flatmate (who arranged everything) works every second weekend. we live in a first floor flat so we asked for the specialist installation team. They arrived one morning at a weekend but had to leave as seagulls nesting on the roof were attacking them. they said they would reshedule for a few days later but that ended up being 2 weeks later (today). our letter said between 8 and 1 today so i have been up since 7.30am. by 1pm they hadnt arrived so i called up and after several options on the auto service, was advised our engineer will be with us between 5.30 and 7.30pm! we are going out for my flatmates birthday dinner so this does not suit us. the advisor we got through to said she was unable to contact the installation team as their system was down.

so all in all they may turn up as we are due to leave or they may not - then we have to reshedule again which will mean another 2 weeks and we have no idea if we are being charged for it or if infact they will not again be attacked by seagulls!

we had our telephone installed a week ago and although we were told broadband would come at the same time, we got that on monday and who knows with tv?

does anyone have any similar experiences and advice on how we should handle this as we are not at all impressed so far!

thanks!

To be fair, the seagulls are not Sky's problem and you should deal with them before requesting another (probably abortive) visit.

"Normally, the council's Pest Control team investigate and, where necessary, treat premises and land where designated pests are found which are either by their behaviour, location or activity deemed detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the people.

Where no such treatment is either available to the Council or where the infestation is of a type or size which, by definition, is outside the control of the Council, Pest Control offer an advice service or provide information to members of the public or any other interested party."

So you could at least get advice.
