Might be an idea to open the topic up a bit more donmonster? Ask a question or two in the other parts of the forum, like ISA's, Savings etc?

Not all the experts look in this part of the forum (which makes me wonder why I'm replying in it ;)), but there's some people on there, (and other parts of the board) that know how to make the money go around better.

Just put a link into this subject where you can, then they'll get a better overall picture. You can still stay in this topic and get the advice from people that have been there and done it as well.

I'd still start on finding out where you stand with the subject of the interest though. Has to be a start doesn't it?

Well rang HR anonymously and checked with them - apparently just recently update dto include that :-( - so yeah no chance of being able to go down that route - unless as you say I quit my job....I suppose I could do that and go and do something I enjoy with this though I would be more than halving my salary - but I would be looking at perhaps never working in the financial sector again - which althuogh is not ideally my forever job it does pay the bills....

They said there would be an investigation - but I do not really want to say who I am and check if I would be sacked - as I think those lot would keep that on file and use any little reason if they ever wanted to get rid of you in the future....

I'm no expert but DonM, though things are tough , imagine how proud you will be when you have paid back all your debt. That would be an achievement that is equal to owning your own home outright or climbing Everest - well thats how I would feel about it! Isn't facing the problem half of the solution.

I think what people forget is that life is tough and nothing is a "god given right".

With Comic releif this week just think how well off you are compared to all those people in Africa and all the homeless on the streets.... be grateful for what you have got and though you have debts you still have a life and can do things you enjoy - many don't have this option. You have good health and that is more important.

In regards to comments earlier about the "morals" and "the law"... many of the laws in this country are an !!!!!!..... personally I would like to see debts never written off and always accountable. If you have money after being able to live a reasonable and safe lifestyle you should continue to pay regardless of when and how you got the debts in the first place. People have to learn their responsibilities, but then companies and banks have to learn when to stop lending and stop taking advantage of people.
