The same as with Swiss Motorway Vignette.
With your cunning plan they would still be able to lift the tax disc, and place it in another car, perhaps photocopy it and doctor it, before doing so. In effect you have made it even more durable.
I have noticed the newest tax discs have bar codes on them now - just as an aside.
1. Don't call me Shirley.
2. Tax discs have the registration number and the make of the car to which it was issued, and the amount paid. My "Ford, £30" disc is going to look very suspicious on a Bugatti Veyron.
Yes, it will need to be doctored. This is what the self-adhesive clear plastic skin prevents. You can't get it off and get to the surface of the disc to erase the old details, without the surface of the disc coming away with it.
I believe that the shiny metallic strip on a tax disc is, like banknotes, to deter photocopying.
The barcode is obviously yet another layer of security.
Again, see http://www.secur-i-disc.co.uk/index.htmlThe acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

Of course the seller of tamper proof tax disc holders will tell you theres a demand for stolen discs - probably out stealing them themselves to keep the numbers up! :rotfl:
A stolen tax disc is useless now everythings computerized0 -

Yes.
With the tamper-proof holder, you can still remove it from the windscreen and then cut out the disc with a pair of scissors.
With the re-usable holder, you just take it out.
Both can still be read through the clear plastic.
Then what is the point in the "tamper-proof" holder? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Surely it would not dissimilar to the original after your layering on of sticky back plastic through a dirty windscreen.
It was always a sod to get it on first time when I followed Blue Peter."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I don't know about that specific car, but the chances are that those crap cars are the kind you can break into really easily, for example the Vauxhall Nova which can be broken into and started using a single windscreen wiper.
The newer and more expensive cars are harder to break into so the big yellow steering lock isn't needed.0 -

what you mean is newer cars have immobilisers fitted but unfortunately you still get kids who cant read or write that think you can still nick modern cars and can do an awful lot of damage to door and steering before they find out it wont start
and even try bumping them down the road into a very inconvenient lamp post as you sit in your front room in your undies watching emmerdale:)0 -

Citroen Xantias used to do that on their own accord:("If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
