Are RBS fairly strict?

I'm planning to apply for the Ulster Bank credit card early next year, as I want to do a fee free balance transfer and stooze. I understand that Ulster Bank are part of the RBS group. I've had a Natwest Credit Card (also RBS I believe) for years, and have recently cancelled it, so I'm worried that this might cause a problem, as my next application for this RBS run card (Ulster Bank) will only be about 6 weeks after I cancelled the last one (Natwest).
The reason I'm concerned is that i've been turned down for a new card for similar reasons before, albeit by MBNA. If anybody has any experience with RBS run cards (and perhaps has more than one on the go) I'd be grateful to hear what your experiences have been. I don't want to apply if it's likely I'll get rejected. That would just be silly.
Thanks.

Just been turned down for an Amazon card with £25 voucher - Only have one card, (MBNA Mastrcard), which is up to date payment wise. Reason for rejection given does not match my credit rating or personal finances, (which are both in an extremely good state).
Have Amazon put the block on applications? Are MBNA and RBS etc becoming warey and defensive? Because of this site perhaps? Or is there another reason?0 -

Check your credit file to make sure it is as healthy as you seem to think.
Mistakes do ocurr, they could easily have you mix up with another person.
Unless you name is kupeneckiski!
Check your credit score and decide how to move forward after that.0 -
Credit cards sometimes refuse new customers for many reasons other than bad credit references.
But you should check your credit file just in case, they do make mistakes and mistakes can be put right.
Amazon may be getting too many applications!!! It has been advertised extremely well.
Keep searching there are lots of other offers out there.0 -

Last month, I applied for the Ulster Bank Gold card without difficulty. I have Mint and held an RBS card as well until recently. As long as you're not intending to transfer a balance from another RBS-issued card, you should be fine.
Caution: having taken the decision to cancel your Natwest card, I would check your credit file first to make absolutely certain it's marked 'settled' otherwise the credit limit on your new Ulster card may be reduced to compensate for a card you no longer hold.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
