Hi All
Now before I get jumped on this is in regards to my fiance's current dilemma. He's not very money savvy (I'm the one who's on here every day) and so he thought that he was doing the right thing by applying for a Halifax cc to balance transfer to however as it's a Halifax cc that he wants to transfer it can't be done (der comes to mind lol).
The new cc is at a lower percent (23.95%) than the old one (29.95%) so a bit better but not great however as he can't balance transfer we are trying to work out a way to pay his old cc off with his new cc and that way it will class as a purchase at 0% for 13months but we don't seem to be able to find a way to do this and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience at doing this and could advise us.
Many thanks

I have previously managed to buy premium bonds in a post office on my credit card, then cash them in.
They went through as a purchase not a cash advance, but I understand they are not supposed to accept credit cards for this so I guess it is down to the cashier not noticing.0 -
You can use PayPal to get money off it, however, there are fees associated with doing this - there's a calculator here that will help you work it out:
http://www.clothnappytree.com/ppcalculator/ - you need to send from one account to the other then transfer it to a bank account.
You can also gift it from the sending account to ensure that all fees are paid on one end with the full amount reaching the receiving account.0 -
The simplest way is to apply for another card that isn't issued by the same banking group (Bank of Scotland) transfer to it.
A list of cards, who they are issued by (hovver over the name of the card to see) and how long the 0% transfer period is and the one off fee shown in the link below.

The computer system has been improved so that it won't accept credit cards for transactions where they shouldn't be accepted. Previously it was up to the cashier to notice - and I dare say turn a blind eye on occasion0 -
Thanks for all the replies.
@ fozmcfc I wish it was as easy as just applying for another cc, we have tried this however as he managed to miss a couple of payments on his current cc he's not being accepted for any others.
Looks like it's gonna be a case of cancel the new one and just keep battling on paying the old one, with me in charge :rotfl:DEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN
