Can I spend Sainsburys vouchers in Asda?

A friend told me that you can use store vouchers in other supermarkets. Is this correct as I've got some Sainsburys vouchers but never shop there!

if they are the so much off a total spend ie £2 0ff £20 spend then yes asda do take them

They are actually gift vouchers that my boss gave to me for Christmas. I wanted to save myself a long trip out to Sainsburys if I could spend them in my local Asda!

no asda will not accept other supermarkets vouchers they did a while ago but stopped

I saw a sign outside Tesco's for Sainsbury's vouchers - I thought it was odd

You can use Sainsburys money off vouchers at Tescos came with my mailing from nectar points) - used some last Saturday.
Forgot you could till the woman on the next checkout handed hers over and it was accepted.
