Egg Loan PPI cooling off period issue (2006)

Hey all,
Never thought I'd see this happen, but when I took out an Egg Loan in 2006 I had originally ticked for PPI in the loan, but then realised within 14 days that I didn't actually need it. So I called up Egg, the acknowledged that they cancelled the PPI and that the monthly premium would drop. Which it did do.
And yesterday I received an amended Egg Loan statement and it's mentioning repayment protection in it!!!
Online I now get the following info (which I've NEVER noticed before on there, and I've tracked it online since 2007):
date of initial advance 14 June 2006
amount of credit £XXXX.XX cash loan
£XXXX.XX repayment protection
I know I 'opted in' originally but I know for an absolute FACT that I cancelled it within their cooling off period, which they acknowledged (although whether or not they then wrote to me to confirm it back in 2006 I honestly can't remember).
So would I go down the usual PPI reclaim route? Or lodge a regular complaint?
Cheers for all your help :T

Hi there
Maybe a letter of complaint will be a good idea, because you cancelled and it was confirmed to you they cancelled the PPI within the cooling period), and you just realised despite cancelling you've still been paying for it all along, and now you wish them to refund the ppi plus interest you have paid as from the date you cancelled.
(Enclose any copies of proof you have as well, not the originals).
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
