Small Claims Court limit to be raised from 5 to 15K.

Hi, first post for me, so here goes! I have a number of debts which are mostly 5 years old and unpaid. I haven't heard from many of them at all although I've been at the same address throughout. I've been advised by National Debtline on a number of options but also that I should maybe wait for another year when I'll be over 6 years for the Limitations Act to apply for the debts I'm not being chased for. So I am going to do that. But I have 3 debts of between £900 and £5,300 where I am being chased. They have been sending letters for two years threatening collection visits or Court but none, yet, have done anything and I haven't replied to a single one. To cut a long story short, I defaulted on losing my job, became disabled shortly after and have only just, after 21 months found a job I can cope with.
What I'm wondering is whether, with this change in the Small Claims Limit likely to be in place in April 2012, will people like me with smaller debts (I know it's relative) be more likely to be taken to court well before the Limitations Act comes into play? I'm assuming it will be much easier for banks and credit companies to take that route for debts up to £15,000 then and chase debt in general. I wondered what anyone else thinks? Cheers.

I, personally, don't think the change will make any difference. I have heard that just before the 6 year limit - creditors (or debt collection agencies) then go down the ccj route. Cross that bridge when/if they decide to do that & pop back here for advice but in the meantime I would continue as you are & the NDL advice you were given was excellent.0
