How can I tell / Remember if I was mis-sold PPI?

I have PPI on a credit card that I have had for 12 years. How would I know if I was mis-sold it? I also have an Egg Credit card that had PPI on which I have had for a while - again how would I know if I was mis-sold it as its quite old?

Or do I chance my arm?

Also, I recall that when I took out a loan with Egg, my APR was less with PPI, but more without it - does this mean I can re-claim it?

Thanks.

How would I know if I was mis-sold it?

Generally you know if you were mis-sold or not.

e.g. were you given incorrect advice or told you had to have it. Or was it set up incorrectly (not really applicable with credit card PPI)
Or do I chance my arm?

    do you mean lie?

If you are going to try-it-on, what reason for complaint would you give?
Also, I recall that when I took out a loan with Egg, my APR was less with PPI, but more without it - does this mean I can re-claim it?

That is not a valid reason. Companies are allowed to offer different terms for those that buy other products. There may be other reasons you have though.

    Thanks for the replies.

Well not lie no, as I dont feel its fair on the bank if I lie to get some money back. I just cannot remember why I'd have PPI on my credit cards and loan....

I have just found my Egg Loan Paper work. It shows a PPI policy of £970.20 added to the total of my loan. The loan was for 5 years.

Is this allowed, as this is what Northern Rock did, except my loan with them was for 10 years.

    Thanks.

Well, I have just checked and I had alternative cover when I took this loan out through my work and I wasnt asked, so hopefully I will be able to claim some back.
