Help with Sky

I would like some advice with regards to Sky please as I am not sure what to ask for when I call them.
At the moment I have a normal Sky box and pay for the full package.
My tv is an old Sony one so no HD etc.
Ideally I would like a Sky+ box in order to be able to record one programme whilst watching another but I don't need the multi room. Would I have to take this out?
Sky have an offer at the moment for existing customers to upgrade to SkyHD but do I need to have a tv with HD in order for this to work properly?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you upgraded to an hd box then to benefit from hdtv, you would need to update your tv, but, you can still use it onyour old tv, you wouldnt get the hd quality tv tho0

Sky only supply Sky+HD boxes irrespective of what you order, they stopped supplying the old Sky + box some time ago.
The HD boxes have both Scart (SD) and HDMI (HD) outputs.
You do not have to take out multiroom. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks both for your quick responses.0

If you don't want HD, then simply buy a Sky+ box on eBay for next to nothing (or get one on freegle for nothing), as long as you have a twin feed from the LNB then it's a straight box swap.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
