Do you have to check your premium bonds yourself? I was thinking of getting some but i have read on several sites you need to check yourself as people have discovered they have winnings and have not been notified. If you invested say in a couple of thousand pounds worth how on earth would you go about checking the numbers!!

you are allocated a 'holder number'
so you only have to type in the holder number and the system will show you all your winnings.0 -
You are notified - they send you a cheque or, if you have previously arranged for this to happen, they send you the money as more bonds.
I'm not sure what happens if you win the £1m - I imagine they phone you!
The people who have found that they won money years ago and have not received it will be people who have changed address and not notified the bond office.
My SiL did this. Recently, she applied for more bonds and, once the application was in, she received a cheque for £50 that she had won in 1996.0 -
Clapton is correct you just type in the holder number and a list of all your previous and present winnings is listed..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

When I had premium bonds they always just sent a cheque. Don't think I ever won much more than 50 GBP though...0
