Strange reply to my freecycle request!

I put a 'wanted' on freecycle a couple of weeks ago asking if anyone had any old garden tools or gloves that I could use on the allotment.

I just got an email today which said

"
Greetings, I have this, I was planning to publish a cost-free offer for it, but I noticed your wanted post first, very good timing!
I put up a several pics and my personal area upon this site

I checked out the freeitemcycle.com and it looks like an American site. I don't want to open the email as it looks a bit dodgy.
Has anyone come across this type of thing before? Is it dodgy or legit?

I'd forward it to the mods, sounds like a scammer, who will want payment & you want get anything.

That's what I thought. So i forward it to the mods of the freecycle site, then would they be able to check it out and warn other site users?

Usually only registered users can see posts, I think that if there are several reports of abusing the system they'll cancel their membership.

OK. I will just forward the whole message to the moderators. TBH, if the email had come within a few days of posting, I wouldn't have paid much attention, but someone would have had to be looking back over a few weeks worth of posts to find it, and who ever does that on Freecycle? Seems computer generated to me.

I forwarded the email to the admin of freecycle and they have flagged up a warning in the messages board. Apparently a few other people have had similar responses.
