O2 turns tattoo parlour

Got an O2 handset? Check. Regular Oxford Street shopper? Check, check. Then head down to the O2 store at 368 Oxford Street and get your phone tattooed gratis. Carry on reading for more information...
Only available to jammy O2 chaps until 23 December, the phone tattoos take 20 minutes and are done by professional designers Razorlab. Choose one of their patterns to have etched onto your handset; show your phone who's boss by engraving your name on it; or make the designers sweat a bit by giving 'em a blueprint to work from.
And while your phone gets personalised, you can gorge yourself on complementary H20, get a back and neck massage from the O2 Angels or sit yourself down at a computer to catch up on GadgetCandy gossip.
And after scoring all that free stuff, we think it’s only fair that you give something back to the community by buying those heels you've had your eye on all week...

Wow! This sounds ace, as soon as I get my new O2 "sparesies/emergency" phone (£50 PAYG, with £75 vouchers for HMV free as shown on another thread) I'm running down there!:rotfl:0

hey.. ! ok i have a samsung phone but a o2 contract.. would i be able to get one.. ???0

I'm guessing as long as it says "O2" as the network name on the screen, or maybe even just the O2 branding on the phone, or perhaps bring a O2 bill. Tho the latter would mean that PAYG customers would be exempt.... which I'd assume would be mentioned in that article.
Hmmm.... worth a wander down methinks to ask. I'm also curious on the mention of bringing your own blueprint, surely they must have some restrictions on how detailed it could be for free....:rotfl:0 -
Do let us know if you get it done COOkie. Post a picture if you can!I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0

I've just phoned the O2 store to check it was still valid, and the cheery bloke on the other end said it was something they did downstairs. Just drop in, no need to make an appointment. Their opening times are 10am-8pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 7pm on Saturday.
Now I know this, I shall either be going on Saturday (oh dear, day after office party... that's a bad plan for the hangover) or on Tuesday.... will post results here!:rotfl:0 -
It worked! I went downstairs at the O2 store (opposite Bond Street tube station on Oxford Street), a woman asked if she could help, I said I'd heard you could get your phone etched, she showed me to the counter with 5 tattoo design books (as you'd expect, some with "corner designs", some basic animal shapes, some border designs, some fancy swirls etc) and I was asked to pick one. I showed her my phone (Motorola L6, got on another offer linked from this site) and that was apparently "very good to etch on" as it had a large flat area to put a design.
Once I'd picked my design I showed it to the tattoo/etcher guy who asked me to switch off my phone before I handed it to him (I'd switched mine off when I first went downstairs, the phone has no O2 logo on it, so I was testing how they'd know I was an O2 customer if they didn't see the screen.... answer is... they dont!). He then went to his laptop, resized the design to fit the dimensions available on my phone, lined it up with his machine and it etched away in minutes. I could've decided to have my name etched on it too, but meh.... didn't want that personally.
Apparently, the service usually costs £25 for mobiles (all models and types, final outcome look depends on type of phone, metal motorola cases get stronger outcome to for example Sony Ericsson which has a rubberised feel over it, the design comes out whitish on my Motorola but on a Sony E it'd be more a darker colour which is more subtle). Etching on ipods is £50, and laptops £75.
I left very happy
