I live abroad but should I put my money

Hi
I have just sold my house in the UK and will have around £40000 equity. The only bank account I have in the UK is a current account with the Santander. I don't want to convert my money to the country I live in straight away, so where should I stash the cash?? Offshore? Is it enough to go in an offshore account?
