Sky X without a phoneline?

So basically I recently moved home with my Sky+ - I wanted to move my Sky broadband and TV package over to the new place. I told them that my BT line wasn't yet set up in the new place (as it currently has a line with Orange home phone/broadband) - they said it was fine and could still install the tv and they'd call me back once the broadband had de-activated at my old address

The engineer came and installed the TV stuff - all fabulous!

But I have not heard from Sky in regards to the broadband/phone situation

Does Sky require you to have a BT line? I always paid the £11 odd to BT previously but I never use the landline (I have a mobile)

I am tempted to leave the Orange broadband/phoneline in because if we reactivate broadband and BT at the new place, we'd be tied to a years contract when we are happy with the Orange service!

I know we don't have to have the Sky broadband back so thats fine....

But would we be in breach of contract if we didn't activate a BT line through the box? (bearing in mind when I spoke to sky and asked if the home move meant i'd be subject to a new 12 month contract they said tv isn't but broadband would be a new contract!)

Anyone offer any advice on this? :)

Thanks very much in advance.

Also, as an addition - we've brought an additional Sky + box off ebay because at some point we will want to go onto multi-room (and I don't want to pay £200 for a box!)

Will the requirement for a phoneline be affected by this?

A Sky contract requires a phone connected for the first 12 months, though this is often not enforced. You can buy out this requirement for a one-off payment of £25 at sign up.
But as soon as you have Multiroom, this becomes a permanent requirement, if the boxes fail their callbacks then you will be billed for 2 separate subs.

Thankyou very much for your help - its probably easier then if we just keep the Orange broadband and line as it's already there and out of contract rather than re-connecting BT and Sky BB!

I assume this isn't affected as I have moved home (sky say I am not subject to a new 12mth contract just because I have moved!)

    Result!
