Suspended Ebay account

DH and I used to have separate Ebay accounts, until mine got suspended about 3 or 4 years ago when I was new to Ebay. Ebay never actually told me why, it was a case of "if we tell you what you did wrong, you'll do it again" (!!!!!! ?). At the time, I had nothing more sinister than baby stuff for sale. I vaguely remember being asked to send personal information like bank statements to Ireland and not being comfortable with that, so I have been using DH's account instead.

Now, listing something through his account at times can feel like passing a bill through the House of Commons and I would like to get my account back. I understand that simply using another email address for registration would get me banned for life.

Can somebody tell me what Ebay's playing at and what I should expect please ? Thank you

You need to contact ebay and find out why. Also be warned if they link you OHs account with your banned one (via address or other method) he will also get banned. There have been cases of sellers selling for years on other accounts at the same address for them suddenly to be closed down

I got banned - but it was because the person who previously lived here was banned - it was when i changed my address I had problems. I had to send a copy of my passport (i think it was about 6 years ago) to prove my I>D although I didn't want to do it I felt I have no choice. I don't sell on ebay only buy.

Thank you for your replies. I had a couple of very pleasant email this morning from them explaining that there was a discrepancy in my registration details. I suspect they don't like the fact that I used my second Christian name to register the account. I have now faxed a bank statement showing first and second Christian names, hopefully there will be a speedy resolution now.

On the one hand I appreciate their efforts for keeping Ebay a safe place for all but that did not justify the tone of previous correspondence where I was made to feel like a criminal

I got suspended for 2 weeks. I also had to send documents to Ireland. Never found out why?

I have applied to have it reopened, I am still waiting to hear from them, fingers crossed !
