anyone tried the BMI flight?

hi!
i just wondered-did anyone apply for the BMI credit card to get the free airmiles/flight? I just wondered what the terms of the offer were-do you have to spend a certain amount on the card before you get the airmiles? are there any catches?
thanks x

No minimum amount. I bought a CD, then a couple of days later paid the amount off, I didn't wait for the bill, then a few days later checked the balance, it was NIL, so I did a 0% balance transfer. I did get my miles and am yet to spend them.

The catches with these are that there are only certain flights that are available and that you have to pay the taxes and charges that often make it more expensive than another airline. I have a BMI card and didn’t use my free flight as I couldn’t find anything suitable time wise or location. I still have a balance of miles that entitle me to a free flight but have since stopped using the card due to poor availability of flights.

As far as I'm aware, you can basically travel to anywhere within Europe with any of bmi's Star Alliance partner airlines. Availability, however, is likely to be rather restricted.

Not sure if this is the Classic Master Card you're talking about but

I went to Hawaii for £2.50

Post #5 here gives details on how to check for availibilty.

Yes, got the card, and after a replacement-faulty chip- used it.Trying to get the free flight is the problem. I have searched online and found the flights I want, yet every time I try to book it, the reply is "not available on promotional fare". We're talking Manchester- Alicante in Feb. , so hardly peak time. I've thrown the card in the bin and will book with another airline.
  • has anybody had any success with bmi credit card airmiles?
i too tried to book flights with my airmiles but there were no seats available - despite trying to book over 6 months ahead!
wrote to them but received no reply
booked with ryanair instead - much cheaper

How many miles do you have?

It's not easy (never is) but Flyertalk has good information regarding how to book.

Where were\are you thinking of going?
  • have got 20000 destination miles but not exactly sure what they actually translate to in airmiles

    will try your link

    thanks
