Recording telewest cable tv

Hi,

I have got no tv aerial so the only tv i get is through my telewest digital box.

I have a video recorder and I can only tape what I am watching, ie whatever channel the digi box is on.

I fancy getting one of these hard driver recorder but am wondering if I would still have the same problem.

The only alternative is getting the telewest alternative to Sky+, it looks great but I dont fancy paying £75 then £15 a month for it!

Any ideas??

    Hi,

Yeah I can only record what I am watching, unless I use the analogue signal.

Yeah that TV drive is a rip off, you would be better joining lovefilm or buying the DVD!

I've got a TVDrive and personally I love it. It's not cheap but it is excellent. If you get one you it's got three tuners in it so you can watch one channel and record two others.

I do think charging existing customers an install fee is disgraceful though.

Yes, you would have exactly the same with a standard telewest box and DVD-r/ HD recorder as you do now as the digibox only has a single decoder and so can only output one channel at a time.

TVDrive is telewest's version of Sky+ and would then allow you to do the multiple channel thing that you want.

Depending on what you are wanting to watch you could go for a separate HD recorder with a built in freeview tuner but this would only work if the local freeview signal is strong enough for picking up by a portable ariel

Maybe we were lucky 5 months ago as we didn't pay for installation as existing customers. had to do the we are leaving you bit though! If you don't ask, you don't get!
