Worth a punt or is the party well and truly over now. Likewise with other emerging markets such as Latin America?
I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.

As part of your specialist or emerging markets allocation then yes. Its not a punt, it is part of the balanced portfolio in the more volatile areas.

It seems a reasonable assumption to me that India will be a major player in the world economy for the rest of your lifetime. So from that point of view the party has barely begun.
However if you only have a time frame of say 5 years or less: who knows, anything could happen.
As Dunstonh says, it should only form part of your investment. A relatively small part IMHO.0 -
No the party isnt "over" its just begun!
I have recently been investing in 6 funds, 2 of which are First State Latin America and First State India0 -
I bought some First State India on the last dip (couple of months ago) - not a huge amount (c. 5% of SIPP), and plan on forgetting about it for at least 10 years.
Partly personal preference - I prefer emerging democracies (even if a little shambolic/corrupt) to emerging autocracies - so that's half the BRICs ruled out0
