Plenty of stock, I actually bought a Sony camcorder around this time last year but got rid of it eventually due to the fact I couldn't justify the cost (Around £300!). This looks similar so I will buy one just in time for my trip to Blackpool

Personally I would pay a bit more and get a DVD camcorder.

Less messing about, copy a full DVD direct to PC in minutes rather than rendering at 1 x speed, no drop-out ('blocky picture'), which you get on miniDV tapes, no head cleaning etc etc.

Amazon do the Sony DCRHC-24e for £197.71 inc delivery or the DCRHC-35e for £204.95. I recently bought the 35e and am really pleased with it.
I am told that unless you can afford a top end DVD camcorder mini DV is still the way to go IF (please note IF IF IF) you want to do editing on your computer. Most DVD camcorders compress the image reducing the quality compared to Mini DV. Also, only the latest versions of most editing software will work with DVD camcorders. However DVD camcorders will probably be better for you if all you want to do is play back through the telly.
