They changed my postman

I had an excellent postman and even on his days off the replacement was brilliant as well. Stuff arrived late morning, he always tried the bell several times if i didn't answer and he left cards for packages I wasn't in to accept. He never got any sigs for recorded, but I don't see that as a problem as the person receiving the goods.

According to my delivery office we have now had a major reorganisation and it is chaos. I'm now getting post as late as 6pm and whole bundles are posted through the letetr box regardless of whether they are mine or not. No cards are ever left so I now have to ask at the delivery office every time i drop my parcels in in case there is something for me. Each time they get me to fill out forms to complain about the lack of cards or the mis delivered post. Yesterday was an absolute blinder, I got 2 recorded items to completely dofferent addresses which I now have to make a special journey to take back as I have no post to send today. I got nothing of my own until early evening when someone stopped outside in a car and hand delivered several days worth of letters saying he kept getting my post.

I am doomed....

when i lived with my mum in surrey our post came between 8 and 9 am, now i live in Herts and im lucky if i get post before 12.
Not to fond of my postie, he always leaves his finger on the buzzer for ages and it scares my little girl. My mums postie on the other hand is really nice and still says hello to me when ever I see him :)

I can sympathise. Our postie is fantastic and we are very very rural at home with a business premises in an equally rural location. Our collection postie comes at 4pm every day, well before our delivery man - but neither will take/collect the other's mail. We have had post as late as 6pm but it is usually between 5 and 5.30pm. Which is a shame as I could close the work premises at 4pm and send everyone home, but I have to keep it open and keep myself and one other there (at least).

Goodness it seems the same thing is happening everywhere....
Until Christmas I had a brilliant postman, would turn up as clockwork 10.50 every single morning. After he disappeared though my new postie is so unreliable its ridiculous, he comes any time between 12 and 3 (if at all). My house can go for days on end with no post and then suddenly he'll turn up at a random time with a whole load of post - it just seems they save it up for days on end and then just deliver it when they feel like it. Ever since Christmas, I've had a huge amount of post go missing (12 items in 3 months) and despite numerous complaints to royal mail they seem to think its not a problem and have told me that its just 'inevitable that mail goes missing'.

Its the total opposite at my parents out in the countryside. We had the same postman for years and would see him 8 every morning and was always friendly. Now a days they have a new postman who comes later in the day but is brilliant, he knows to leave parcels inside the porch which my parents leave unlocked for him to do so, and theyve never had a problem with post missing once

Actually second deliveries were abolished under the last Government.

I didn't get round to taking back the two bits of recorded post I got in error, so they will have to go back tomorrow now.

If you think it is bad now, just wait till DHL take it over. You'll be lucky to see any mail. DHL won the contract to run the mail for my local NHS (all the important stuff like appointments and test results). After 3 months, so many appointments had been missed due to non-delivery of/lost mail, that all the surgeons and doctors resorted to posting the important letters in the nearest Royal Mail post boxes. After just 3 months, DHL got the boot.

My postie is on holiday this week........delivery is appalling! Post is left on the doorstep rather than anywhere it should be.

So far this week I am missing one parcel and card has arrived opened today - thankfully although it was a birthday card there was a cheque in it not cash.

Not saying that it is our local sorting office - over the bad weather they were superb and if I call them they will bend over backwards to help, but the bottle neck seems to come at the big sorting centres where they really dont seem to have any service standards!

Having said that I still cant deliver a letter for 46p given the price of petrol so am I just expecting too much or should we all go back to messengers on horseback???
