Hair cut- dry cut saved me £13

I wasn't really sure where to post this so I hope it's in the right place!

I've just been for a haircut before my holiday. I have thick longish hair which is a bit of a nightmare when wet so every time I go to the hairdressers they wash it, dry it, straighten it then cut it, for £21. I always get really hot and bothered with the heat from the hairdriers and straighteners so this time I decided to wash and straighten my hair myself before I went then ask for a dry cut.

My hair was cut in exactly the same way as normal and I was amazed when they said it came to £8! I've basically been paying £13 to get my hair washed, dried and straightened there.

I thought it might be a good tip for other people trying to save money!

I always have a wet-cut at my local salon for £12. I never have it done, as end up with a bouiffant. I much prefer to let dry into curls/waves naturally.

I have been going to the same hairdresser since I was about 2 (I try going elsewhere but nobody does it right). I wash my hair, towel dry and clip it up to go. I hate having my hair washed and dried by other people. My last cut I had it washed by someone and I felt really uncomfortable about it, lol. I go in with it wet, leave with it wet and sort it out later. Hairdressers to me are only for getting the funny ends off my hair, I don't treat it as a pampering experience. Like the dentist, really, lol.

I wish I could let mine dry naturally, I end up with a mad frizzy mess if I do!

I've been getting my hair cut dry for years to save the pennies too - I wash and straighten it myself before going to the hairdressers.

That said, the cheapest I can get mine cut around here comes to around £16, so your hairdresser is an absolute bargain! :)

I always get a wet cut. What is the point of paying someone maybe a fiver to do something which takes me minutes at home! Like going to a fast food shop...... if they charged say, 3 quid for the food and said they would charge another 2 for them to put the rubbish in the bin afterwards... would you pay for that?

I cut my own hair, and save the tenner or so just for a dry cut. Here's a vid showing how to do it:

I do have a decent pair of hairdressing scissors though... don't just use a stationery pair!

I only have dry cuts too, I've tried a C&BD but it never comes out right and I feel I am paying too much, LOL.

Mine comes to my house at a time to suit and does it for £15, kids for £5 and hubby for £5 too. He has been coming for years now. My son has Autism and my hd is quite happy for me to hold him down while he whizzes over it while being called all sorts. :o I've tried other hair dressers but none of them can do our hair as well as him.

I'd also recommend the local college - it takes longer but they are always supervised by a serior stylist but before I had the kids I would go thre, a C&BD was only £4. And I got a coffee too. Atter all, they all have to start somewhere. I think my highlights were £15 for foils too. I wish I had the guts to have purple highlights!! I feel, knocking 40, I am too old for that look now, LOL.
