Being replace with a thing called PIP. Everyone will be reassessed just like ESA.0

Hi Spark from Kent - snap!!
PIP will be taking over from DLA within the next 3 years. All claims for the new benefit including those who are currently on DLA will have to undergo a new medical assessment just like ESA. They are removing the lower bands and the care and mobility requisites are changing which will make it harder to get and keep! These assessments will take place at regular intervals. If PIP is anything like ESA, the re-assessments can take place every 3 months or as long as 5 years apart.
It seems that GP reports are now said by the DWP to be held with suspicion and that a medical orgainised by their contractor will provide a much more indepth and honest report. (Believe that and you must believe in little green men from Mars)!!!0 -
yet more upset and worries for the disabled but for the dwp and cameron a new fireing squad which will cut down the moneys buy another 20 0r 30 % may be. the moneys we will get will also be cut they say buy up to 20% which could be 100.00 quid. bloody good life it is not.0

From what I've read, this is for people of working age only and will start around 2013/2014.
What will happen to the retired after that time, who are currently on the higher rate of DLA mobility and have a Motabilty vehicle, is still unclear to me.
Motabilty say that half of their fleet ( some 300,000 cars) are leased to 'pensioners'.
Are we all sleepwalking into something nasty here?0 -
Hello Everyone -
I'm also really concerned about this. I have DLA middle rate for care and lower rate for mobility 'For Life.' I am aged 63 and was allocated DLA before I officially retired at age 60. Does any one know what will happen under the new 'PIP' system to people like me? I have a significant mental health problem and the possible upheaval is potentially terrifying.
Any information or comments will be much appreciated, thank you.0 -
Hi thanks for all the great replies looks we have some fun times ahead what happens if you lose your dla half way through your 3years with mobilty0
-
If you lose after appeal etc., you hand it back to the dealer and get a pro rata proportion of your advance payment back ( if you paid any ) ie halfway through the lease would give you 50% back.
Contrary to what another person said on here, you do not get a good condition bonus in these circumstances at present!
If it comes about that all or most pensioners have to return their Motability vehicles, then the Eton mob that run the country won't know whats hit them.0 -
Hopefully there will be another election before this happens and we can kick them out why do they pick on the disabled when you have loads of lazy gits. Just two lazy to work.0

I seem to remember that the proposal is that the Mobility element will cease at age of retirement. This is to bring it in line with those that are 66 who claim it for the first time can't have it, yet those of 64 who claim first time can currently have it for life!0 -
