eBay/PayPal - paying by AmEx Credit Card?

Hello
I'm not new to eBay but I am new to buying (sold loads, brought nothing).
I just brought something for c.£250 and would like to pay on an AmEx - I've tried to do some reading up on this before asking but not really had much luck.
I've agreed with the seller to pay on Monday which they are happy with so I just want to get an idea of how before I try.
Things I've heard when reading up...
Thanks!

- Paypal will want me to use my balance before a credit card can be used; but I want to keep this as I have some sellers fees to pay?
- Something about AmEx charging a fee for exchange to USD and an equal amount saying this isn't the case. Any ideas?
- I've read that I can select somewhere to change the payment type.. where?
- I need to verify the card? I'm setup with my banks current account... can I not just stick the CC number in?
Thanks!

- The paypal balance is always used first, you cannot avoid that happening
- Depends on the currency you need to pay in, you mention paying in US dollars so did you buy the item from ebay.US
- When you go to pay and only after the balance has been used you can opt using a drop down menu to change the funding source.
- Paypal are inconsistent with their security and you may find you are unable to use the card without verifying it, and that can take days.

Thank you very much for the reply.
I only have c.£100 in my Paypal and the item is c.£250. Would this mean the c.£100 is taken from my balance and it will allow me to pay the extra c.£150 from my CC?
No the item is in GBP but I'd heard something about being billed in USD? I'm not sure... !
Could I withdraw my c.£100 forcing a CC payment?
If all else fails I'll pay the seller with cash from my existing linked account. She has been very kind with waiting (I contacted her before bidding). But I would prefer to pay on a CC as I'm buying for someone else and the payment will be covered within my CC interest free period.
Thank you once again.0 -
You can withdraw your balance to your bank account so you can pay with a card. I'm not sure whether PP accept Amex though.0
