Small Unsecured Loan - but bad credit

Hi everyone,

I'm basically looking for a bit of advice. After a recent break-up with my partner who I live with I need to move back out on my own, but nobody ever puts away a deposit 'just in case' the relationship breaks down and now I'm left about £500 short of a deposit and stuck not being able to move out.
I don't have good credit from days as a student being stupid with money. I don't need to borrow a lot, and looking for it over a relatively short term, but also don't want to get stung by any scams. I've tried parents/friends etc but they're not an option.
Any advice please?
Thanks.

Try seeing if there is a credit union in your local area - they might help.

If your earnings are very low could the Social Fund help? That is a loan via Job Centre Plus so look on their website.

what do your credit file say
    how much do you earn
do you have an overdraft facility
    do you have credit cards
    do you have any debts

can you move back home so you save up enough for a deposit and give you a bit of savings for odd emergencies
  • Thanks everyone :)

Credit Union could be a good call - I'll get on it. I live quite a distance away from my parents so that's not an option as I work where I live and commuting would be way too time consuming and costly...

I have an overdraft but not enough and bank won't extend, have a small maxed-out credit card already...

See if there is a deposit bond scheme in your area - these are for specifically for this purpose - http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/paying_for_a_home/tenancy_deposits/bond_schemes
