What stage -Banks Appeal

My claim against Lloyds/TSB for PPI charges has made it all the way to the Ombudsman (who held in my favour),but I was recently told by the Ombudsman that everything is on hold until the appeal by the banks was heard. The result was supposed to be at the end of March but as yet we don't seem to be hearing anything about it. Has anyone any ideas what is happening?:mad:

Hiya
Its frustrating isn't it?
I did actually receive my letter in the post today from lloyds in regards of 2 ongoing cases I have with them, and was informed they still cannot provide me with a final response, due to the JR.
And they cannot indicate of when I should receive the final response.
They did then confirm they will consider the complaints as soon as they are able and write to let me know what happens next, and of course if I'm unhappy to refer my case to the FOS.
Well I am going to wait, even though I know it may take some time yet.
So basically even if a decision have been made, it now all depends on when the judge can deliver this.
Hopefully not much longer, but up to now there's no updates as yet.
Good luck Scotty, you have come this far, so with a bit of luck all will be resolved sooner rather than later. xThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Well, after all the hurrah, from the banks capitulating to the JR and me thinking that things would be settled in a timely manner (seeing as we have all been kept waiting an unacceptable time). No such luck.
I contacted the Ombudsman within the last couple of days just to enquire when I could expect finalisation of my claim which their adjudicator had found in my favour prior, to the JR. With Lloyds refusing to acknowledge any contact from the adjudicator at that stage,it was then forwarded to the Ombudsman.
There was me thinking that it would now be plain sailing. The banks (Lloyds/TSB being the first) had at last seen the light and were putting billions aside for mere mortals like myself. I could expect a nice cheque ( including the extra £200 the adjudicator said they shoukd pay me for all the heartache) soon. No such luck. It was all a dream....... the Ombudsman has since told me that it will take up to 1 year to settle my claim as they are dealing with the urgent ones as a matter of priority because I am in good health and can afford my mortgage. The fact that my family is surviving on my pension and £50 a month for food doesn't seem to come in to it. I have sent them all the necessary documents to show my hardship but they say I don't qualify as a hardship case. What do you have to do?0 -
You could try emailing the CEO of LLoyds?0

Thanks for your advice everyone. I have done what you suggested but unfortunately, like all things connected with Lloyds, they don't seem to be replying or even acknowledging my e-mails. Have also written to them but same old no reply. I wonder what they would do if I didn't answer any of their letters about being overdrawn etc. Bet they would be quick at sending me more letterss and then charging me for the priviledge.0

Hi there, if this is with FOS, the bank will not have to acknowledge you as you are now dealing with FOS.0

Lloyds do seem to be working through complaints. Some in their system are very old, so understandably its going to take them some time to get through them all.
I would remain patient!
HSBC's complaints department on the other hand seem to have booked a holiday after the Judical Review. :rotfl:
RBS last week were telling people they haven't even started working through their backlog!0 -

Lloyds TSB started securing the services of contractors capable of doing the work even before it announced it would not take part in an appeal (which it did ahead of the others).
Consequently it is likely to be well ahead of the others.
For that reason its complainants are the ones most likely to benefit from being patient and not go into the queue at FOS.0 -
Nearly there...................and what a journey. After 2 years of the personal approach to Lloyds about my PPI (which proved fruitless) and almost another 6 months with the FOS, I wish to report that I am nearly there. Received a letter from the FOS yesterday saying that Lloyds wish to make an offer as a gesture of goodwill, with no admission of liability,to settle my complaint. Don't know what the offer is as yet because I havn't heard from Lloyds themselves, but have been told in the letter that it can take up to 8 weeks for payment to be made once I accept the offer. Will keep you posted.0
