Tax Statements

My wife closed a couple of on-line accounts during the 2010-11 tax year (one with ING, one with Santander) without printing off the closing statements. She is eligible to reclaim the tax paid on the interest; my question is do these banks issue Tax Deduction statements at year end without being asked?
Appreciate any info you can give.

Yes, but you may have to ask for them. Different banks have different processes.

Thanks for that. Think I'll get her to drop them a line and get the ball rolling.
  • You don't need them.

Simply download form R40 and send it in. You do not have to back it up with statistics. If they don't believe what you say, they can always check it from the detailed information sent to them by every bank in the land, on every individual account.

Agreed, but I got the impression that the OP did not know the amount.
