Money and Death

Hi Everyone,

just wondering if anyone would have any ideas about this. My dad died a few years back, and before he died he told me that he had gone into business with a friend, as a silent partner, he did not tell me how much money he had given the friend.

My mum asked the friend about this after dad's death, and he just says when you need money come and ask me - not very helpful. Other friends have suggested to my mum that a lot of money was put into the business (restaurant in Belfast doing rather well last I was there). Obviously this was not done formally - no documents/contracts, etc, though we may be able to find out how much was given to friend, from the money trail from my dads old bank accounts.

So, being gutted that my mum and dad have lost all this money, I thought I'd ask and see if anyone had any ideas!

So sorry for your loss erewyn.

Have you tried the CAB? They might have some ideas about where you can start. Very difficult though if there's nothing in writing.
