Ebay help (Buyer)

I purchased a pair of shoes on 23rd Feb, 7 days after the sale date I contacted the seller to ask where the shoes were (I waited this long as the dispatch time was 3-5 days)
I received a reply from the seller to say she had forgot to post them and would send them next day delivery.
On 7th March I opened a case with ebay as I had no shoes and no reply to my messages.
8th march seller responded via ebay to say she had just driven to post office and posted them 1st class and would send back my p&p costs as an apology.
14th March I responded to let the seller know I still did not have the item.
15th & 17th March I left a message on the case to say I still had not received the item.
21st March I esclalated the case, It stated it would take 48-72 hours for a response.
30th March I sent an e-mail to ebay to ask what was happening as I had heard nothing from ebay.
31st march i got this reply:
Hello xxxxxxxx,
Thanks for getting in touch about the xxxxx (item xxxxxxxxx) you bought from "xxxxxxxx". I understand your concern that you haven't received your refund yet.
I have reviewed your concern and I will be sending this concern to the Relevant Department which is subject for approval for 2 to 4 days. If this case will be approve, you will received your refund to your PayPal account within 4 to 7 days.
I trust that this information helps and I wish you all the best on eBay in the future.

I have still not heard anything from ebay regarding this! Is it worth giving them a call? Does it usually take this long to sort a refund out?
Thanks in advance

Be quick and call them. The buyer protection lasts only for 45 days!
Also file a claim with PayPal NOW for an item not received and escalate it straight away.
Again, get a PIN and call eBay. They are in general very good and quick but remember that you only for 45 days after the sale date to make a claim under the buyer protection scheme.
I am surprised how patient you are. I usually get upset 14 days after the delivery is due and start claiming.Getting there! Thanks to you guys0 -

It is normally not possible to open a paypal case once an ebay case has been opened instead. Most of us ar emore familiar with paypal cases which is why I suspect there have been few responses on here. Midn you it always pays to call ebay and ask them where the refund is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I am on eBay for 10years now. The way I always work is to open a case with eBay and then escalate it in PayPal. I never had a problem this way. However I had only 6 claims within the last 5 years with over 1000 items bought.
I have one coming up now for a DAB Radio and did the same and had no problems of escalating.
I only write here what I do. I am not sure how else I could claim anyway as it is not happen to often and more then less it is Asian sellers where I have to claim. The DAB Radio will be the first UK seller I can remember that I have to claim.Getting there! Thanks to you guys0 -

Don't people automatically lose both cases if they simulataneously raise a single dispute using both Paypal and Ebay?
I would just follow the instructions given and follow it up, rather than risk messing things up by making a second case about the same issue.0 -
Never lost a case and as I say that the way I have done it so far. Has not happen to often anyway and I stated to call eBay straight away as the 45 day deadline looms.Getting there! Thanks to you guys0

Thanks for all of the replys, I was unable to open a paypal claim as I had already opened one with ebay, maybe I should have done it via paypal first? Anyway I got a pin and called ebay customer services who have advised they are going to escalate it to a higher department and I should have the refund by the 9th April. I did ask why it has taken so long and also made them aware that i thought the timescale was unacceptable but I could tell that the advisor had been programmed to just apologise over and over again so I ended the call.
From other people's experience, does it often take this long to get your refund?2012 wins:
