Toilet not filling with water

Hi All,
A brand new toilet on the ground floor of a new build house, the toilet had been working fine for around 5 months, but recently when you flush the toilet, the water rises to the top of the bowl nearly overflowing and then when it subsides it completely empties the bowl and does not refill the bowl????
I have tried pouring hot water down the toilet and nothing changes, I have tried to see if there is a blockage in the toilet and can not seem to find anything.
Any ideas??

That sounds very much like a blockage. If you can't see anything obvious in the toilet or u-bend itself, go outside and lift the lid of your manhole cover. You may very well be able to spot an obvious blockage there.
If you can't see anything obvious, then you need to start flushing the pipework through. You can sometimes get away with back-flushing with a garden hose if you're lucky, if not then you may need to look into hiring / buying some drain rods, or else "get a man in". If you do get someone in, it's well worth contacting a local plumber rather than just going for the default option of DynoRod. Good though they are, they're pricey !0 -
Buy one of those coiled spring drain cleaning things (Sanisnake) and work it through the trap of the bog, pull it back and forth a bit . Sounds like something lodged in pipe on outgo of pan (disposable nappies )

If it's a new build, aren't the builders still around they should fix any problems.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

There may be a problem with an air admittance valve (if there is one) at the top of the soil stub-stack if there is one near to the toilet pan, or in the loft.0

If it's a "new build" then get the builders back in to sort it out, I would also see if there are any other problems with the build.0

Diables advice is correct. Don't faff about with one of those wrteched snake things either. All you'll do is scratch the pan with it.
The pan isn't refilling because the sudden rush of the pan emptying is syphoning the vast majority of the water right out of the trap. If there's a soft blockage in the soil pipe then you should have cleared it the first time it did it. It doesn't sound like an AAV problem either.
I'm going to hazard a guess that theres another waste pipe joining the stack somewhere that hasn't been fitted correctly on a boss and its just been showved in - result part of the pipe is sticking into the stack and providing a ready made ledge for unmentionables to pile up on and its only the pressure of the water in the pan thats moving it past the blockage. But I could be wrong.
Get the builder to investigate and sort it.
