NS&I Childrens Bonds

My daughters savings are currently in a Halifax regular saver, the 6% rate runs out next week so I've been looking at alternatives. Unfortunately we're going to have to stop saving regularly for a while. The account currently holds £800 and will be topped up slightly by some friends when I move it.

I want an account where I don't need to worry about introductury rates. I'd also like the option of something I can lock away for longer than the standard aged 18.

I've been looking at childrens bonds, I guess at 2.5% it isn't a great payer but I can get the money out part way through the term if rates start going up by a significan amount in the next few years. It also doesn't get handed over to the child until age 21.

I was just after some advice on whether this is a resonable option or just a lazy option?
