I Owe Money to a firm in liquidation !!

It was a building firm I owe them just over £4000. Trouble is the work is crap and they have caused damage to my house (the cost to repair the crap is not as much as the debt). The liquidators will accept £1000 leaving me what is owed to fix my property with another builder.

I feel that I owe 'Naff All' - they were in breach of contract by what they did to my house and the crap job.

Can I legally stand my ground and tell them to push off ?

anyone............

  • Have you already disputed the work with the Company, before they went into liquidation? In writing?

If not, then I don't see that you will succeed in doing so now. You can try, but I would not be hopeful, especially as you've already had the bill reduced to £1000.

If you did, then send the liquidator/administrator a copy of your letter and see what they say. However, they seem to have already agreed to write off £3000 - does that not seem a fair amount? Especially as you seem to be saying that the cost to put the work right is less than this, so you will still be "quids in"?

    Have I misunderstood?
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
